Project Lighthouse

Under the auspices of Sea Haven Inc., as Project Director, Jesse Jordan designed and implemented Project Lighthouse @ Sea Haven 'On the Boulevard', a program for runaway/homeless street youth in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In order to better reach and teach these young outlanders, he crafted a philosophy and language of world travel that became the cornerstone of this award winning program. This simple concept facilitated an immediate positive realtionship between staff and the young 'trav'lers'. Support services and counsel were provided on an individual basis with the intent of discovering the 'trav'lers' next destination, both physically and metaphorically. By-laws of world travel, clever passports, individual ID cards, and a requirement to participate in planning their own "path of progress", were some of the best practices utilized in this effort. The program, its premise, and its successes captured the imagination of other youth serving agencies. With the assistance of Jesse Jordan the Project Lighthouse philosophy has been replicated in several programs throughout the Southeast.
